-Here
we go with another month of 2D. As ever I feel the need to
stretch my 2D wings and leave my 3D work behind for a week
or two. I having been working with Painter
8 for a couple of weeks. The lastest release is very similar
to photoshop and is a lot more user friendly the version 7.
One of my favorite uses is to change the layer mode to GEL
and paint underneath my pencil sketches. Some examples can
be seen in the latest
concept galleries.
-No sign of the Plaster
head yet but I keep looking out for it in the post box.
-A little note about weblogs. I have kept this WHATS NEW page
going for about 4 years now and it was only the other day
that I saw that this type of diary based record is now been
badged as BLOGS or more accuralty WEB LOGS. So am I changing
to a new way of adding NEW items to the site to follow fashio?
Am I buggery!.
-I spent a few days working on a little boy character to help
me understand IK and rigging a little more. I got a lot of
help from Jonny
Gordon of Zero Gravity (AKA Kretin).

-Heard
all about MSBlast? All my PCs did this month. I lost a ton
of work and a lot of time and energy re-installing programs.
I found several viruses in one go and had to spend days backing
up images.
-I have been lucky enough to join a new software forum dedicated
to a new modeler called CLAY
(www.rocket3d.com). It is a polygon modeler along the
lines of WIngs3D or Mirai but I have to say so far, it has
been a please to work with and the leaning curve has been
very smooth. I was up and creating heads in 2 days.
-Working with ZBrush Beta 1.65 now. Lots of goodies coming
soon.
A recent addition
to my toolbox is the Polymer Clay Super Sculpey. I have
really enjoyed using this new medium to create my artwork
and I want to share some of the tips and tricks I have
picked up.

-The
MINDER Project took off far too well. I posted the images
on CGTalk,
Renderosity
and Critical Depth forums. I made all my animations available
and within a week I had used up an entire months bandwidth.
As I have no sponsorship I am not prepared to pay for any
more so the site went down untill the 1st of June.
-I just completed a review of Worms
of Art PShelf Presets. A set of surafces for Lightwave.
The review will be available on critical depth in a few days.

-Back
to 3D land with a bang this week. I started a Walking Robot
project from concept art right through until animation. I
will be uploading progress later this week.

-More
2D painter work done this week. I am finding that joining
in at Conceptart.org in the Daily sketch groups is helping
me to improve my pen/brush work.
SITE UPDATED: New look to the main pages,
going away from the all-black look to a grey/black mix. I
have updated information, Links,Graphics and Index
with the new style. I will be moving more of the site over
soon.

-Most
of April was spent working with Painter 7 and Photoshop brushing
up my 2D skills.
I found a new online concept art forum at www.conceptart.org.
and have been blown away by the quality of art to be found
there. Ive added a lot of thge artists webpages to my inspiraton
list.
2.02.03
-More work in recent weeks on head
models.
-I downloaded Wings 3D today. I have really enjoyed using
Lightwave Modeler to create sub-D meshes. I read a lot about
Wings in recent weeks and I thought it was time to have
a look see. watch this space...
-A more recent design project has been the Valve.
This little engineering prjoct started out as a small reflective
steam engine and ended up as a squidy-like metalic beastuy.
See the progression here. What
do people at CGTALK think?
12.01.03
I
started a new organic-head project tonight in Lightwave. Looking
at the first results I am more than happy that I have retained
the modeling skills learned late last year.
What I need to do now is work on texturing a whole body. The
main problems I am fighting with are texture stretching (because
I don't do the UV maps very well yet) and getting the spec
maps right.
09.01.03
A
number of projects have good the creative juices flowing for
the new year. Whilst I have enjoyed the time last year spent
on Lightwave and Rhino I find I always revert back to ZBrush.
I have been posting to CGTalk in recent days and I find I
am getting frustrated with the negative comments about work
created in ZBrush and how it does not compare to that created
in one of the big 3D packages (Read
here). The main sticking point for a lot of people seems
to be the fact that ZBrush does not handle perspective in
a familiar manner and that there is no camera to move as needed.
07.01.03
A
new star in the ZBrush world last year was Steve
Townsend. His work ranks among the best I have seen
and it is all collected at his new website.
Although not new GI heads is a set of images I made last year
and bever got around to posting.
01.01.03
Well,
archive time again. Having just had a few months away from
the graphic grind I find that I need to sift through recent
works and add them to the relevant showcase sections of the
site.
What I want to do this year is really concentrate of building
my portfolio of artwork in a more eclectic way (If that is
the right word usage). I want to show that I am capable of
producing high quality 3D stills and illustrate using 3D in
the way that Yoshi Hiroshi
or Michael Wu does.
