Modeling
a head in Lightwave begins in earnest this month. This little pointy
eared beauty is one of my first heads and looks much like a 100
other poly heads I have seen on the web. I used a front and side
view of a head and placed then in respective views in the LIghtwave
modeler interface.
Starting from the eye socket on the left hand side of the head I
created eyelids, a brow, the nose, mouth, cheeks, ears and then
onto the head. Remember, the best way to model a head is to model
half of it and mirror it across. This is where you find that the
image template is a real help to you. A couple of tips if you are
starting out in organic modeling:
Learn to use all the tools like knife and bandsaw.
Do most of the modeling before switching to sub-D mode (tab) then
refine using drag and drag-net.
Use Q a lot. Name your sufaces as you go. Eye-patch for example.
Makes for easy selections later on in the process.
