WELCOME TO THE SITE

Welcome to the Southern Graphics website. If it's your first time then you are very welcome and if not, then welcome back. The site, as you'll very quickly see, is a place for me to display my artwork and offer up my meager services. I am a freelance artist based in the Northwest of England (UK) and I specialize in creature and character creation. I work with a range of mediums including pen and paper, digital painting, digital 3D sculpting and the more traditional sculpting with polymer clays and resin.

ABOUT THE SITE
Line

This site has been online for over twelve years now and my galleries includes artworks that are even older. I post most of my personal work here at the site and in my Flickr gallery. My studio is at my home in Cheshire and I do most of my work from here including carrying out some training.
The bulk of my commissioned work is 3D modeling for game, illustrations and tv. I use a number of 3D packages including Cinema4D, Maya, ZBrush and Silo. I use Photoshop for 90% of my digital 2D work and alternate with ArtRage and Sketchbook Pro as needed. I sketch almost every day and favor a Moleskine sketchbook with grid lines. I like to work in pencil with Faber and Castelle Aquarelles being a favorite of mine. I also use markers, ink and acrylics as needed. I sculpt in Super Sculpey, Fimo and Wax and sometimes use earthenware clay.

CAN I USE YOUR ART AS A REFERENCE FOR A 3D MODEL?
Line

Almost certainly yes! Please email with a request and what you intend to use the artwork for and permission is usually given. Where possible please provide a link to this site. Some of the art within this website has been created for a specific job or client and copyright may belong to a third party. Wherever possible I have indicated this.

ARWE YOU AVAILABLE FOR COMMISSION WORK?
Line

I have limited availability for commission work but I am always interested in new and exciting projects. If my style seems to fit your project please contact me with specifics or email me for a quote

WHAT TRAINING DOES SGFX OFFER?
Line

Alongside the DVD's that we have produced with KURV we can still offer a limited amount of Sub-Division Modeling training. Primarily Lightwave, SILO, ZBrush and Mubdox. Please contact me for availability and pricing.

  • @southerngfx: @WayneRobson yeah, thought so. You need a mbp or xps maybe
  • @southerngfx: Been away from home for a couple of days. My buddy just texted me to say he just saw J0hn T€rry outside my house! #xbestmate
  • @southerngfx: @WayneRobson how did mudbox run on the tecra under w7? Thats only a low spec graphics card
  • @southerngfx: @WayneRobson Mudbox is fine on my macbook mate. In Bootcamp/vista and osx.
  • @southerngfx: @AnthonyFilice @sparklemedia Keep me in the loop guys. Not home till Thurs but on twitter #cgtweetUP
  • @southerngfx: This weeks big job: Model a GIJoe type action figure to suit a FF type bike! And I get paid for this right! Simples! @lifeisgood
  • @southerngfx: @bwithers did a cool Skeleton inside a Critter concept of mine. http://tinyurl.com/yd4zmer I've seen a few of these and I love em!
  • @southerngfx: God, I love my incremental save button. In days gone by I'd be crying into my hands now after one-motha-of-a-crash..lol
  • @southerngfx: Just watched a mate win on 'Are you smarter than a 10 year old.' He took the 100K instead of going for the 1/4 mil. Smart move!!!!
  • @southerngfx: @Podgypanda @moopf Same here. Chowder is ace. Although the textures that don't move annoy me for some reason.
  • @southerngfx: Morning all. Blue skys over Cheshire today.
  • @southerngfx: @WayneRobson Cornflake time already Wayne?
  • @southerngfx: @gcoghill Seems daft keeping an OS just for a scanner but then why waste a good A3 Scanner. I'll buy Fusion when I get a min
  • @southerngfx: @gcoghill yeah. It was a safety blanket called Outlook and scanner drivers. The Scanner is an A3 Mustek and still only works with Windows
  • @southerngfx: @philnolan3d haha. Looks like an Apple with Thrush.
  • @southerngfx: @philnolan3d I only use about 6 programs on my Imac. All graphics related. Don't ever really see the OS.
  • @southerngfx: @philnolan3d I've always dreamed of an OS free computing experience. When the machine just runs the programs and nothing else.
  • @southerngfx: @johnsimoneau technically I've had an Imac for 5 years but I never turned it on lol. The new MacBookPro sold me on OSX. I duelled that
  • @southerngfx: After 6 months of Mac ownership I can't for the life of me remember why I dual booted this amazing machine with Vista. Brainfart maybe!
